Altea in Fitur

One more year Altea participates at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair. FITUR is the place to meet professionals from all around the world of the tourist sector. 165 countries participate this year with the purpose of showing to the visitors their best treasures. This edition has a program with a lot of activities which take place in the different pavilions of IFEMA, especially during the weekend when most of the visitors come.

The visitors can enjoy concerts, tasting wines or showcooking and a lot of others activities that are organized by the different stands in each pavilions.

Altea offers to the visitors until the next Sunday 27th a lot of different tourist presentations. On Friday 25th, at midday, the restaurant Bon Vent will offer a showcooking of rice with cauliflower and cod. The Saturday 26th at 5 p.m the Moors and Christians will parade through the central streets of the capital until the “Puerta del Sol”.

Altea, Valencian Cultural Capital.

Culture of Generalirat Valenciana has decided that Altea will be Valencian Cultural Capital from April 25, 2019 to April 25, 2020.

This stamp was created by Culture of the Generalitat in 2016 with the aim of encouraging the structuring of culture, recognizing people who relate to culture as the instrument of social cohesion and economic development. Tomorrow, January 25 at 12:00 a press conference will be held at the fair where the project will be explained.

 

Fireworks of Castell de l’Olla

Castell de l’Olla is the name of the fireworks that are celebrated the Saturday closest to the celebration of San Lorenzo, and that has become over the years a well-known pyrotechnic show that gathers more than 50,000 people each year. This wonder of Altea counts more than 30 years of history. The fireworks are launched from different platforms located on the water and from which the show can be admired in all its splendour. In 2007, this event was declared by the Generalitat Valenciana as Fiesta of Tourist Interest. In 2019 will be held the thirth edition of this fantastic pyrotechnic show.

 

Moors and Christians

The festivities of Moors and Christians of Altea to honour Sant Blai are celebrated at the end of September and coincide with the Patron Saint Festivities. The opening speech, the ambassadors and the Moor and Christian processions fill the streets with music, disguises and gunpowder. A few days before the festivities, the Concert of Festive Music takes place. The Palau of Altea, the Sociedad Filarmónica Alteanense and the Sociedad Recreativa Musical Altea la Vella collaborate with the Federation of Moors and Christians to establish an exceptional concert of Marches of Moors and Christians, as well as Pasodoble. This year our famous festivities celebrate it 40th anniversary.

 

Nautical Tourism

The Bay of Altea offers different marinas where to tie up and to take care of boats. Moreover, they have all the services you need to make your stay in Altea more comfortable. If you want to participate in a regatta in the bay of Altea, the Nautical Club offers twice a year the opportunity to join them. They take place both in April and December. If you do not have a boat and that you like the idea, you can go to the Yacht Club and get in touch with one of the participating boats to navigate.

 

“PlayAltea”, new application of promotion

‘PlayAltea’ is the application that has been developed so that visitors and also the Alteans know the municipality in detail through an audio guide that offers information on the different routes that can be done in Altea.
