What to do in Altea in 3 days

The town of Altea is one of the most beautiful corners of the Costa Blanca, a must-see, with its Mediterranean air reflected in its streets, its monuments and its spectacular views of the sea. Like all places you have your points of interest, but how can you enjoy them in 3 days? Below we offer you a small guide on what to do during your visit to Altea, to make the most of the time and not miss anything.

During the day

You arrive at the beautiful Villa Blanca and with the warmth that it makes during these summer months in any place of Spain, in addition to the long trip … We did not think about it and we are going to take a dip! Altea has a variety of beaches (and the good thing is that they are not agglomerated), you can enjoy a relaxing bath at any beach in the town. If you fancy just sunbathing and refreshing, we recommend the Playa de l’Espigó (beach located at the foot of the Villa), where you will find a beach bar, sun loungers, toilets, changing tables …

All designed to that when you finish bathing you can change and you can comfortably enjoy lunchtime. There is also Playa de la Roda with characteristics similar to the previous one but also with good access to people with reduced mobility. You can eat typical dishes in the area of restaurants of the Paseo del Mediterráneo and Paseo Sant Pere (along the two beaches of Roda and l’Espigó). We recommend the paella of anchovy and cauliflower, called (Paella d’aladroc i floricol), Paella del Señoret (senyoret) or Paella Mixta. You can also enjoy tapas from the bay like: (squid, cuttlefish, fried anchovies …). If you prefer pizza, pasta or salads you also have a great variety.

If you prefer to do some activity (paddle surfing, kayak, jet ski ...) or practicing snorkel your place is in the area of Playa de la Olla and Playa de Cap Negret (on the other side of the river). Its great natural reef protected by the Serra Gelada Natural Park has a great natural beauty, where you can better know the seabed and number of Mediterranean fish species (which live in the posidonia meadows). These beaches are wilder but you still have places to have a beer, eat a good rice or rent a kayak to visit the coast. In this area there are still beaches where it seems that time stopped, with their boats stranded on the beach (pictures that you can not ignore).

On the beaches mentioned above, in case of reduced mobility, you can comfortably access the sea since they are adapted so that we can all enjoy the sea.

During sunset and night

During the sunset in summer is a must to the seepoint of the Church square (Mirador Cronistas de España), enjoy a sunset from the hill of Altea, with seagulls flying over white houses, birds singing, a guitar in acoustic background and the sun ending the day behind the mountains, is something that must be lived and that only lives here …

Taking advantage of the fact that we are Altea upstairs and the time for dinner is approaching, we have the option of having a beer or something before dinner by the church square or the surrounding streets (a good wine from the area, some craft beers from Altea… Between white houses, cobblestone streets and Mediterranean atmosphere.

Dinner time is the key to visit the rooftops of the restaurants in the old town, with views of the unique roofs of the white houses, the monumental dome of Altea and the wonderful views of the marina illuminated at night. It is to move to another level (you forget everything). If you prefer there is always the option of dining inside the restaurants, which will not leave you indifferent, because they preserve the structure of the old houses, floors, windows and part of the decoration of yesteryear. Precious and discreet corners.

After dinner we have the option of walking and going out for a drink in the old area, going out in the pubs, dancing in bars with live music or refreshing ourselves with mojitos, artisan ice creams, local sweets … You will live an authentic experience.

Remember that to access to the old town with reduced mobility, the best option is to do it through the streets of San José or San Miguel (you will have direct access to the Plaza de la Iglesia without steps).

Things to visit

After the first night it is ideal to have breakfast on the beachfront, to be able to observe the sea is its on the maximum peace. And then you can organize the morning as you like; either doing some maritime activity from the Nautical Club of Altea or going shopping in the center of the village, where you will find Mediterranean decoration shops, clothing, traditional bakeries, the Town Market and you can also visit the Town Hall or the Tourist Info, the Church of San Francisco, the Museum of the Festival, the Municipal Library or the House of Culture that are 3 in the same building (building of restored period and turned into House of Culture).

The views are to stay a while enjoying them, the magnitude of the sea in your eyes and the untiring beauty of nature that is shown before our eyes, being able to observe some days Mediterranean dolphins and number of species of seabirds.
