Altea Town Council has prepared an extensive programme to celebrate Christmas with the family in the municipality. The Departments of Commerce, Culture, Altea la Vella and Sports have organised all kinds of fun and dynamic activities to enjoy these special dates. An extensive programme that will fill Altea and Altea la Vella with excitement, culture, tradition and fun.
An informative leaflet has been printed with all the activities so that the citizens are informed and can attend those events that interest them. Christmas in Altea will be officially inaugurated next Friday with the lighting of the Christmas tree and a hot chocolate party at 18:30.
The programme will continue with a children’s cinema on the 3rd at the Social Centre with the film ‘Encanto’. On the 9th the “Mercat de Nadal” (Christmas Market) will be inaugurated and will be open until Sunday 11th. On the same day in Altea la Vella ‘Padre no hay más que uno 3’ will be screened and after that there will be chocolate and fritters for those attending, organised by the Council of Altea la Vella.
The nativity scene in the Municipal Library will be inaugurated on the 12th of December and will remain there until the 7th of January. On Saturday 17th during the whole day there will be activities, games, gymkhanas and more activities in the Town Hall Square. At 7.15 p.m. there will be the traditional SFA Christmas concert in the church.
On Sunday 18th at 10:30 a.m. the “Colla en ruta” with Dani Miquel and the “Banda de Festeretes” will start in the Town Hall Square. In the afternoon there will be a Christmas concert by the SRM Altea la Vella where a photocall will be set up so that those attending can have a souvenir and there will be surprise visits.
The cultural activities will continue on the 21st with the EsmuAltea Christmas gala at the Palau Altea, on the 22nd with ‘Malcriando, música en la Biblioteca’ and the SFA Christmas concert at the Palau Altea on the 23rd. Father Christmas will visit Altea on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of December.
On Monday 26th the children’s cinema will continue with ‘Save Santa’, and this evening will be the Christmas Concert in the Cultural Centre of Altea la Vella with Antonio Serrano and Pepe Zaragoza. The children’s cinema will continue on the 29th of December with ‘Canta 2’.
The traditional San Silvestre popular race will be held on 27 December at 8pm and will fill the streets of Altea with fun and sport.
New Year’s Eve will be celebrated first for the little ones, with a party for them in the Plaça del Convent and in the evening, New Year’s Eve party in the church square of Altea and Altea la Vella.
January will start with a new family film at the Social Centre, ‘Els barrufets i el poble amagat’. On the 3rd and 4th the donkey will collect the letters from the children of Altea for their Majesties the Three Wise Men. On the 3rd in Altea and on the 4th in Altea la Vella with the visit of a royal page boy. The Three Wise Men will arrive in Altea on the 5th of January with their parade and on the 6th in Altea la Vella.
