The Castell de l’ Olla is a firework display that is held on the Saturday closest to the festival of Sant Llorenç. In 2023 it will be held on 12 August at 11:59 pm on the Playa de l’ Olla. Over the years, the Castell de la Olla has become a highly acclaimed and praised pyrotechnical spectacle. It manages to attract more than 50,000 people, who are delighted with an explosion of light, gunpowder and music.
This festival has more than 30 years of history, and more and more, it brings different boats to the bay of Altea to be able to contemplate the pyromusical spectacle in all its splendour.
The event, which has grown over the years, was born as a tribute to the local pyrotechnician Blas Aznar, “el tio Blai, el coheter”, who died years ago. A special fireworks display was launched in his honour and since then, the Castell de l’ Olla has matured into what it is today.
The Castell de l’ Olla is recognised with the distinction of the Tourism Merit Award, in the gold category in the 1999 edition, awarded by the Costa Blanca Provincial Tourist Board and in 2007, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Community by the Generalitat Valenciana.
